• Native and Regionally Adapted Plants:  Plants that are used to living in a specific geographical region need less water, and can survive periods of drought.  When Drought restrictions prohibit irrigation, these plants will not only survive but will also look beautiful with little or no water.  And don't be fooled by the common misconception that water wise landscape looks like a desertscape.  There are numerous long blooming perennials which can be used to create a multiseasonal display of color. 

• Raingardens and Enhanced Soil Composition:   Many homes today are planted in fill dirt that has little organic matter and has been compacted by heavy equipment used during construction.  Plants that have been planted in this manner are often malnourished and unhealthy.  Water conservation is also limited as much of the water applied during irrigation is wasted by running off your lot.  Mulch and compost will not only help to conserve water but will also keep your turf and plants healthy and reduce the need petroleum based chemical fertilizers which run off the turf and into our water sources.  We will can access your soil condition and give you the appropriate organic amendments needed for your specific landscape.  When your soil is "alive" with organic matter, nutrients and biological microbes you will not need to apply costly chemical fertilizers.  Our yearly organic maintenance package will keep your plants healthy and save on your water use. 

• Raingardens are deeply dug flower beds which are used to catch storm water runoff.  For example,  you can direct your downspouts  to low spots in your yard where a raingarden will reduce storm water runoff and irrigate your plants.  Raingardens are used for bio-retention and  function as an on site filtration system for our lakes and rivers.

• Efficient Irrigation:  Most irrigation systems are programmed to overwater.  Different plants and turf require different amounts of water, yet most controllers water the same no matter the type of plant or turf.  Also, certain times of the year require less water than others.  But most controllers take no notice of these variables resulting in huge amounts of water waste and runoff.  The other which contributes to water waste is the inefficiency of the sprinklers.  The commonly used spray heads loose much water to evaporation and wind.  We can access the efficiency of your irrigation system and offer the following solutions:

• ET Controllers:  ET stands for Evapotraspiration.  A big word that conveys the amount of water that is needed for a specific plant in a specific time of the year.  ET Controllers are the latest in irrigation science and incorporate on-site information as well as data from regional weather station to adjust your irrigation system on a daily basis -  Smart-technology for your outdoor water use.

• Drip Irrigation: Drip irrigation applies water directly to the base of the plants, resulting in a 40 - 50% savings in water use.  In addition to saving water, drip irrigation encourages roots to grow deep into the soil.  Deeply rooted plants  and turf are more healthy and more suited to survive times of drought.

• MP Rotators: Matched Precipitation heads significantly reduce water use and runoff.  These heads apply water at a slower rate with better coverage that common spray heads.  Studies have shown that these MP Rotators reduce water use by as much as 20%.
